it's obvious they don't give a crap about this website. Rich S. & Swede and the rest of the regulars are tired with this Bull of these stupid posts.
Clean it up within a day, every day and they would go elsewhere. It's that simple. I've seen it on other sites...so it will work.

Don't reply to these posts, don't even read them!

I can understand how you feel, Richard, but I'm not entirely ready to give up.

I'm not an IT person, but couldn't they make the site where you would need a log on and password to get on?. I know it would be a hassle, but to get away from these dam spammers it be worth it.

There's a political blog I hang out on that has community moderation that seems to work well. They have Recommend buttons, and when you have comment and recommended enough, you become a Trusted User, which gives you a Hide button, as well. Two Hide rates will drop a posting to invisibility to the rest of the web. It's a capacious system, and they have some sophisticated spambots, but I kind of doubt that Forgotten Chicago can afford to put that in place, as this political blog has ads, and subscriptions, which block the ads.

I tried deleting or editing their posts with no luck, however, I do belong to a community website called NEXTDOOR where a lead person moderates the posts and remove what they don't think fits into the community discussion. Any thoughts.

Rich,

You and I are the "Back of the Yarders" We never gave up on a good fight. This seems alot easier, if we had a good IT person.

Just enter it to report it. Probably manually posted.

Okay, I did a little experiment this evening during the Spamming "Hour". I did more than a few BTT's to move our threads to the top of this forum, and while it can be done, I think that you'd have to have two or three of us to keep pushing the spam down the list, and that would be with already established threads. It might be more useful to do it during the early to mid-morning hours, when it seems that the spammers are in bed. The downside is that we end up with a number of dummy posts that inflate the threads.

The question has been that the moderators don't care, and maybe they do or maybe they don't. I personally don't know, but I think if they have lost interest in maintaining a forum for us, they would have shut the site down, and we as well as the spammers would have no place to go. We will have to wait and see if they are going to do something, since they aren't going to tip off the spammers by spilling the beans now.

So, keep reporting the spam messages, and keep trying to do your bit to keep our threads on top!

Domestic? When most of it points to Europe or South Asia?

Yeah, except you need to view them in order to report them.
