Anyone remember the above. We lived on Loomis across the street from Atgeld school. Went to St. Brendans. Played baseball at Ogden Park (we were the Spartans, red and white uniforms). Went to Pete's Pizzeria or the Cellar for pizza. The chocolate donuts at Sheridan's were the best. Playing strikeout, softball at Atgeld. My brother hung around the dairy whip (or whatever) at 71st and Racine. He was 8 years old. His softball teams was the Jets. I was batboy. Great times.

I remember flying kites in Ogden Park when I was pretty small, around 1964-65. Got a friend over 80 who remembers the boat pond though.

Hey Guys,
It's a small world. I'm the guy from Oakley Playground and my wife is from 70th and Laflin. She went to St. Brendan, Atgeld, Ogden Park and she knew some of the Loafers.

I think the Jivaros were from near 69th-Laflin. Use to know one pretty well.

I attended John Peter Altgeld grammar school. I graduated (to Harper High School) in 1963. We lived at 69th & Ada and later at 69th & Justine (and several other addresses in between). Pete's on 69th St. was our "go to" for Pizza. We attended Atonement Lutheran Church at 70th & Laflin. My father, Roman Catholic, attended St. Brendan.

Longford,

My wife went to the same schools, however she didn't see your name Longford in the Harper Shield year book. What name are you under?

Swede, "Longford" is a online "handle" for this forum; it's not part of my name. I went to Harper only 1/2 year before transferring to Carl Sandberg in Orland Park. I actually went to 4 high schools. 2 my freshman year: Harper and Carl Sandberg. Oak Lawn for my Sophmore, Junior and part of my Senior year. I graduated from Tilden in 1967. When I went to Altgeld I lived at 6920 S. Ada St., and elsewhere. When I was at Harper I lived at 6914 S. Justine St. WE moved around a lot. :-)

Thanks Longford. You never know who knows who on the forum. It's a fun thing to do and to remember the good old days.

I am a bit older. I graduated from St Justin in 1955. My paper route was from 69th and Loomis to 63rd and Elizabeth. I snowed my way home through Ogden Park. I have a blog about growing up there: http://www.memoriesofatime.com
