Norfolk southern is due to expand their yard from 55th to 63rd. All land from Wallace to Stewart in between will become part of the yard. They have already leveled most of the homes in this stretch. Check out google street view going down Normal when you past 56th street you get a before and after shot.

I drive past here weekly and always wonder about the structures at these addresses. The are parallel to the old tracks but Im not sure if they were railroad related. Check out the google aerial views and street views, anybody have any info on what these are remnants of?

Nice find! More interesting stuff on the area, I heard this story a while back about the long demolished firehouse at 13th and Oakley that housed fire engine 107. Anybody know anything abou this? http://www.prairieghosts.com/fire.html http://books.google.com/books?id=8aXVBAAAQBAJ&pg=PA88&lpg=PA88&dq=firehouse+company+107+chicago+oakley&source=bl&ots=lvZ-31_xHW&sig=OvC

http://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20141110/humboldt-park/is-this-block-humboldt-park-sinking-residents-want-know Anybody have any info on the homes or block mentioned in the article? Most of the city sits on sandy soil, all if not all old homes lean to one side as the foundation "settles" into the soil over the years.

Not sure, my guess is something related to the Medical District. Its nice to see at least one of the buildings from this old, gone neighborhood survive.

FYI Hotel Strand is being prepared for demolition. After sitting vacant for many years and the subject of many redevelopment plans it wil be bulldozed. What a waste, isnt there somebody who couldve done something with it?

Yes WayOut the "Green Line Cafe" Ive been there a few times, they have a great cup of coffee. The nieghborhood appears to be in the early stages of redevelopment, all along Cottage Grove new buildings are going up. I can just imagine what West Woodlawn looked like in its heyday, a race track and 2 amusement parks all within a 1/2 mile of each other. How things have changed!

Anybody got any pictures of the old 1815 club that was at 1815 W. Roosevelt (Roosevelt and Wood). It was a well known West side blues joint before the entire neighborhood was leveled and tranformed.

Wow interesting. Its amazing how well taken care of the exteriors are, especially since this building is literally the last on standing in the entire sqaure block. It would be great to see this building brought back to life and returned to its glory i.e. 305 E. Garflield Blvd.
