Madison & Crawford on the west side: Madigan's, L. Fish, Three sisters, O'Connor-Goldberg, Neisner's, Golblatt's, and the Marbro theater. Also Oak Park: Marshall Field's, Wieboldt's, Montgomery Ward, Bond, Hillman's, Richman's, Woolworth's, Gilmore's.

I clicked on 'Riots 1968" and went to Flickr. I went to the largest version of the picture. there's grass all the way up to the thing, which leads me to believe the thing is in the ground. it looks like a parking meter with it's coin box removed. The oval part at the top looks like the time remaining indicator. But the question comes up: a parking meter that close to a bus stop? Unless, it's

Ted Knusman Amvets Post was in Austin at Chicago & Parkside. In the early to mid-seventies it relocated to Irving just west of Central.

This is a used car lot from 1956 at 2429 N. Cicero. The office is in an old schoolhouse. Can't figure out the name of the school. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I grew up in Austin: the only funeral home that i'm aware of that was just west of Cicero on the south side of the street was Conboy's, which also operated a bowling alley next door.Conboy's later moved to North Avenue a couple blocks west of Austin. Other west side funeral homes i remember were gibbons, originally located on madison street in St. Mel's parish, later moving to Oak Park and Irving

The Book was published in 1929 by the American Publishers Corp. of Chicago.It was published for the 1930 annual meeting of the American Bar Association, which i can safely conclude was held in Chicago.I got this information from my local library, which has the book.
