A neat old store was Blackstone on Belmont near Long Ave. Kind of hobby/craft store, you could buy anything you ever needed there. We would buy our model cars, paint and glue there. Model trains, race cars for the AFX tracks, felt, styrofoam for school projects, rubber balls, baseball cards, candy, enerything a 12 year old could want!! Not to mention the scented markers! Orange was the best.

As far as I can remember, the train tracks behind the BrickYard Mall were used by the Carey Brick Company on Fullerton and Natchez. Once the brick company closed, the tracks were only used between other factories. They contiuned just west of Belmont along side the Kimball Candy Company. There would be huge freight cars parked with corn syrup dripping out of the bottom. I don't think the trains had

All the cement work has been completed on the building that faces Narragansett. The few stairs that were horribly crumbled have been repaired or replaced. I didn't go to the side facing School St. but would imagine any damage there was repaired as well. As far as I know, this building has electrical transformers in the back. My neighbor worked at Kimball Candy in the late 60's. I remember she always gave us rock candy. It was a translucent purple color, in a huge rock about the size of a baseball. Not much flavor, but candy none the less. I wonder if it came from Kimball. I too remember playing football on the front lawn of the factory. The bad part was the sidewalk that ran across the grass to the front door. Playing
