Fox's Pub 9956 S Western. Awesome pizza, despite the Irish name. Also in Oak Lawn and Plainfield. Aurelio's in Homewood. Love that tangy sauce. The original location is the best. Also in Tinley Park, Mokena, Richton Park, etc... Sanfratello's in Glenwood also deserves a mention. I grew up about 3 blocks from there.

Anyone know what happened to the excellent website Jazz Age Chicago? It seems to be down. Wonder if it's temporary or if anyone knows anything about its demise? Thanks.

bwalsh is right about the sludge. They also used to give the sludge away free to anyone who wanted it. They packaged it in 20 lb bags. My dad got several bags and spread them on our vegetable garden. I've never seen tomatoes and cucumbers like we grew that summer! The MWRD ended the program because of the heavy metals in the sludge. (At least that's what my dad told me!)

An uncle told me the red hydrants were high pressure, the yellow medium and silver low pressure. That same uncle is pretty elderly now but I could ask him next time I see him.

I was born here on December 6th -- we won't discuss the year. Anyway, the family story is that when the nun brought me into my mom's room she asked Mom what they were going to name me.
