Former White Sox pitcher now deceased pitcher Kevin Hickey played 16 inch softball for the Bobcats. He was spotted by recruits playing softball. He had a tryout with the Sox and signed for minor league deal. Later on he made it to the big leagues.

There was a lone grave on Willow Rd. in Northbrook. It sat on the north side of Willow Rd. It always amazed my Dad and I. Behind it was a open field at the time, 1970's. We pulled over one day to look at it and the birth was the late 1700's. Well the headstone is gone now with new development. I always wonder what they did with the grave when developing the land?

Thank you for the answer and it was a faint memory of mine having lunch up top with my mother. I also remember stores like Woolworth's having a rectangle candy counter with 2 women working. You would chose what candy you want and the amount. Then they would weigh the candy and bag it for you.

Remember Honey Bear Farm very well and it was owned by Carson Pirie Scott. It must be over 25 years since it closed. From what I remember pre mid 1970's all the Chicago street lights (Except the Yellow lights) were white. Does anybody know the name of the former Funeral Home located at 2325 South California Ave.? Looks like it hasn't been a funeral home for many years. The trees are very over grown and you can't see the front of the building. I checked the Polk directory, 1940 census and the Tribune Archives and came up with no information. Thanks

There was a Dog N Suds in Lake Zurich Illinois on Route 12 that is now Papagus Gyros. 454 North Rand Road. I remember it well and the building now still looks like a Dog N Suds. Not meaning to get to far from Chicago but in Byron, Illinois there was a Dog N Suds at 705 West Blackhawk Drive. It is now Sam's Drive In. The building still has the root beer sign.
