Ha! That's actually the soundtrack list I've compiled! I'm about half-way through season two. There is a definite drop-off in the use of 'oldies' as the show continues.

What's the address of the Winchester property? I found a reference to the Stensen Brewery on Winchester, but the address would now be 1752 N.

The site of Grand Central Station was a filming location. I haven't seen the movie so I don't know in what capacity it was used, but they built some mock houses on it for the filming.

Did Winchester have a different name at one point? The only references I can find are for the Augusta/Paulina facility which went over to Marshfield (then called Rumsey St).

Neat! From the Frommer Walking Guide to Chicago: 'Until 1960, it was a branch of the Eleanor Club. These were respectable dormitories for single working women. In the early days, residents received room plus breakfast and dinner for $6.50 a week. The commodious living conditions included a variety of common spaces, such as homelike parlors and living rooms, a rooftop garden, sleeping porch, s

It's possible - the street view shows a big concrete driveway right off of the corner which might have been for building access. Edit: found this old photo - looks like it has indeed been demolished. The building in the background (FLW's EZ Polish factory, then being used by Universal Foods) and on the left are still standing. Fulton Substation

What shows up most under the Beckley-Ralston name via Google is radios and, interestingly, golf clubs. Which makes sense, as Mr. Downtown brought up, as early car radios were only aftermarket items and golf bag compartments were popular features on roadsters.

Fulton ends at Central Park. There is a substation at 3006 W. Fulton, maybe that's the one they meant?

Yep, that's it. The FC main page most recent article mentions a Zook-designed gas station also in Des Plaines but has no address (doubtful it's still extant in any case).

Wanted to point out an overgrown Zook-designed house in Des Plaines, on the corner of Margret St. and Walnut Ave. It's still 'in the family', although looks like it needs some work.

Very interesting, thank you! I had a family member who was apparently very familiar with that land just after the war, as he was a resourceful beatnik with a penchant for jazz cigarettes.

A few years ago, a good friend wrote a fascinating article about Letritia Kandle, a Chicago-based guitarist and inventor who played with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra. Here's his blog post about Ms. Kandle - enjoy! Letritia Kandle

I'm trying to find some history of a piece of government-owned land at or near a rail yard in Blue Island, around Vincennes Ave. Unfortunately, I don't have much more to go on than that, aside from the land being secluded/concealed enough to be used as a massive hemp growing field during WWII. Anyone ever heard such a thing?

There was a restaurant a few years ago called Room 21 (2110 S. Wabash) which was in a supposed former Capone speakeasy, but I always thought that claim was BS...that area was the Levee, which was wide-open vice. Colosimo's, for example, was right next door, at 2126. Why hide illegal sale/consumption when every other cafe around was serving it openly? The only history of the Room 21 building I

The NE corner wasn't an empty lot until just a few years ago. I remember there being a restaurant where Holiday Club is now; HC moved there from its original location on Milwaukee Ave.

There's a one-story storefront/apartment at 1437 W. Blackhawk that's slated for demolition. Interesting building and certainly an anomaly on the block.

The one show I had a like/dislike for was Gigglesnort Hotel (early '80s); wasn't a fan of the Blob character, and most of the other puppets had varying levels of creepiness as well. But hey, what else was I gonna do early Saturday mornings before my folks were out of bed?

I was curious about the car dealership, so some digging led me to find that 5940 N. Western was once Dick Johnson Pontiac. Mr. Johnson's 1988 obituary says he owned it until 1955, so a dealership has been there at least 60 years.
