I spent a lot of time (and a LOT of quarters) at the 2-story arcade that used to be at 1160 N. State St. (half a block south of Division, currently home to TeaGschwendner) ... Back when I was a kid we had two at the corner of Clark & Fullerton. Parkway had been there for ages (and had a soda fountain back in the 60's) on the SW corner, and then there was Sol's Pharmacy on the SE corner. My first ever job was at Sol's back around 8th grade, when I put by budding OCD to use as a stockboy!

Wow ... I've lived down "on Rush Street" for the past 35 years, and these pics are quite the trip down memory lane! I even saw glimpses of the old Louie's Cantonese Cafe sign (the dragon on the neon is poking out under a few other things there)! I was just showing my daughter these, and she was amazed at how our now-staid & ├╝ber-gentrified neighborhood used to look like Las Vega

I think the stamps went away in the mid-70's ... I remember our local drugstore (Sol's Pharmacy at Clark & Fullerton) had them right up to when I got into highschool. I well remember the S&H Green Stamp books, where the pages had grids to fill with single stamps, one big stamp or a few middling-stamps (25 a page? 25x1, 5x5, and 1x25?).
