I went and took these pictures of the former location of Fried's dry goods store which was located at 1455 S. Pulaski in North Lawndale's "Merigold" Bohemian section. The building was probably built in about 1905 or so and was originally a store owned by H. Lurie. (I have an absolutely AMAZING 1909 era photo of the block). There was an independent Bohemian bottler in Pilsen named Alois Vana. He was located at 1938-37 S. Carpenter for decades, the building no longer stands. I believe his son moved to Berwyn because there's a park rec center down the block from me with a plaque by the front door dedicated in 1994 with the name of Alois Vana on it. B.A., Cicero Field was in Cicero, IL between Cicero Ave & Laramie and 16th St. & Cermak Rd. It was turned into a sub division called Parkholme in the 1920s. The 1912 Chicago aviation meet was held there.
