As it turns out, these signs on Pulaski are old Chicago Street signs, they are just overpainted with advertising. The attached photos clearly show the signs mounting brackets and the bent edges of original yellow Chicago street signs. Of course, they ar mounted on a private Pole (pun intended) and are not in their original location. https://www.flickr.com/photos/jimboschi/14825599015/ https://

The purplish blocks I have were Metropoliton Block from Canton Ohio. I don't know how Chicago disposed of them, but I do know Minneapolis had a yard run by the city by the river where residents could pick them up for a nominal fee. Maybe you ha

In regards to the Jackson and Franklin sign on ebay - I was going through the photos on Chicagopast.com and came across a 1937 photo of Wilson and Sheridan. The Street sign depicted looks a lot like the Jackson one's construction, so maybe it is a real Official Chicago sign.

My Brothers and I delivered newspapers back in the late fifties between Kedzie and the river and Lawrence to Montrose. The three of us would meet at the corner drugstore on Francisco for plain or chocolate phosphates - 2 cents plain, 5 cents chocolate. I seem to recall they also had Green River but I may be wrong.
