Berwyn Frank ... I have many fond memories of Nicky Chevrolet but none greater than the day when my buddy picked up his triple back Impala Super Sport convertible with a 327 3 speed column shifter. Their speed shop was a candy store for car guys back in the day. The Nicky name survives today ... a group bought the name and now do after market upgrades to Camaros.

Grew up in that area. The coolest spot was Henry's Drive-in Restaurant on the corner of Milwaukee and Central ... that was in the ealy 60's. Another cool car hang-out.

Deluxe Records ... thank you for resurrecting that memory. We bought many 45's there in the early 60's. They had turntables set up so you could trial the records before buying. Still have several of the WLS and WIND Top 40 sheets.

Does anyone remember drag racing on the Kennedy expressway near Nagle Ave in the early 60's ? There would be several cars that would stop traffic (very little back then) and then pairs would face off. Spectators would line the overpass to watch. Kinda crazy but it was fun. Eventually cops caught on and that ended that! Had a lot of drags on North Ave outside of Skip's. Those were the days!!!

The Holiday Ballroom was on the east side of Milwaukee Ave. right where it intersects with Higgins. There was an army surplus store across the street on the triangle piece of property. It was a place where many romances started for folks now in their mid to late 60's ... me being one of them. Still trying to find pictures of the Varda drive-in restaurant that was located on the corner of Milwaukee

I vaguely remember the Times show. Spent many Friday nights dancing at the Holiday. Then we would cruise Milwaukee Ave. Your timeline seems pretty much on. Sure wish we could find some pictures. Maybe there may have been some local newspaper articles about it ... but what were the local papers back then ?!?!

Does anyone remember the Holiday Ballroom on Milwaukee Avenue in Jefferson Park? Whatever happened to the giant disco ball? What years did it operate ? Does anyone have pictures?
