Agreed. I'd much rather hand over my money to see a film to this establishment than some cookie cutter big corporation AMC or something. Let's hope maybe the Uptown can open sometime in the future! I never got to experience it, but from the things I've read and the pictures I've seen, it was majestic in all of it's glory. Jam Entertainment owns it now, we'll see what they do with it.

As a kid growing up in Peterson Park in the 80s, I think we were the very last generation to actually have neighborhood pharms. There were two in my neighborhood, Crane's, on Peterson and Bernard, and Mels, off of Pulaski and Devon. I remember going to Crain's to get packs of baseball cards, for 40 cents. I remember going to the Fluky's on Western, and they had an old yellow "central park" sign, which I thought was the coolest thing since that's where I lived. Except I lived on N Central Pk, and the sign was S Central Pk, but still, I thought it was the coolest thing ever as a kid, seeing our street sign there.
