There was a Rexall drug store on the corner-NW of 71st and Western. I can still recall the tast of the fountain coke. I think it is a currency exchange now. You could go north on Western and shop at Sloan's department store. It had a great skylight in it with wonderful wooden floors. Also Mulay's Pharmacy on 79th near Kedzie. I remember the Scottsdale store. Spent lots of time there growing up. They had the cookies and candy near the front door. You could grab things there and catch the 79th street bus. They had Vienna candies and fruit sticks covered in sugar. Outside in the back of the store,there was a separate little deli they ran. I can still recall the smell of the sausage. Remember Hanley's House of Happiness on 79th street. Does anyone remember a bar on the north side of the street east of Ashland on 79th? It had green shamrocks in the bricks on the front of the bar.

There were three restaurants at 79th and Columbus. Jaycees restaurant was on the spot where a Burger King stands. The Diamond Head was on the east side of the southwest highway near 79th street. And across the street from there was "Caputos"
