I worked at the cafeteria at Western Electric (29th & Cicero?)around 1982 to 1986. It was a little city in of itself. I have a lot of great memories from there.

I grew up on the corner of 53rd and Hermitage, across from Fulton grammar school. I was best friends with Sandy Stachowski that used to live down the street above her grandparents with her Mom. In fact, I recall Sandy and I being in her dad's Gremlin car when it got a flat tire on the Stevenson. My dad worked in the stockyards then had the newsstands at 47th and Ashland. I remember walking down Ashland avenue and visiting the 47th and Ashland Goldblatts store. My Mom used to purchase her canaries there. I remember getting 6 finches there for around $2 each. My first job was at the Walgreens restaurant across the street! On another note, my dad had the two newsstands on the corner of 47th and Ashland. Our whole family worked at them at one point or another
