Anyone remember Archer Avenue Big Store? I remember going there many times through the years while growing up on the southwest side. It was almost like a dime store and could get just about anything there. I would go visit St. Joseph and St. Anne church afterwards (Now Our Lady of Fatima). Hey I remember that sign! I lived over by St. Richard Church/Archer park area. I would drive down Pulaski to attend Daley College. I had stopped there every now and then to get gas or pick up milk.

My grandmother had stayed a short time in this hospital and it was awful then. The rooms had cinder block walls and painted an ugly blue. The stories I had read about the place at the time when they were trying to close it was a janior was allowed into the operating room when a surgery was taking place. My mother got her out of there as quickly as she could.
