Here is a link to a specific page of Goose Island photographs on the Daily News site. Fascinating...

That is a very good question. I have not seen pics of old housing there, but would love to. I wonder if there is any residential zoning remaining on Goose Island, allowing private residences? If there was housing on Goose Island currently, I'd imagine it's in/adjacent to the Shrimp House building there on Division - every other single building appears industrial or municipal in nature.

There is some road work being done in Avondale, on Milwaukee just north of Central Park Ave, and you can clearly see exposed tracks -- very cool!

Thanks and Good job shekaago! I went traipsing around that lovely area a few weeks ago too, it was definitely interesting! I also noticed the grade changes, and there were even railroad ties in the alleys. I am also very interested in the cemetery between Addison/Irving Park, and if any clues/remnants are left standing...cemeteries in general fascinate me...Looking from Google Maps alone, it lo

Hi Helge, the structure is still standing, here is a photo that I took today for you to look at. What I believe is the "beach" is in the foreground. I tried to replicate the original POV from the postcard photo :-)

Thank you, I love that picture and I LOVE those lighting sconces. The School St. doorway looks beautiful and magical at the same time, LOL. I mean, who would design a municipal servicing station in that style nowadays? I wonder what it originally looked like.

Thank you for the feedback, I am really glad you enjoy them. It was fun taking them! I actually had a hard time picking out and detecting "clues" between Diversey and Addison where these tracks once were. Like I said there are the rail ties around Roscoe and the general narrowness of Nashville Ave where the rail right of way could/would have been. I think at Irving Park Rd, where the

Here's a screen shot of the map with alley-houses at 2500W-2540W/9900S-10000S. Strange. What address do these even use?

Not to be redundant since this is on a separate thread re: 3262 N Narragansett, but this link has some photos of old Dunning spur rail lines, where they are still visible at street grade, and what I think are a couple clues where the old right of way has been built over. http://www.flickr.com/photos/48076639@N04/

Re: the Dunning/School St pictures, thanks! I thought the hydrant was cool as well. I couldn't believe that old rail ties were kept around/in use near Nashville Ave. area. I live near Addison and Milwaukee so the NW side is my backyard and I know it has a lot of history. Let me know if there's ever anything up here I can document... :) Re: the Kenton Ave tracks, that would make sens

Hey! Here is the link-- hope you like them. This is a very interesting story about Dunning and I love reading about defunct rail lines in Chicago. The substation is beautiful-- look at that School St. entrance! :-) http://www.flickr.com/photos/48076639@N04/ I've also wondered about the rail line that lies at approx. 4600-4700 West, bordering on Kenton. It spans most of the length of th
