There was a firehouse at Diversey and Fairfield. I think it was closed when the Kennedy Expressway was built. You could see the Walton Rug sign on the roof from the expressway. A replacement firehouse was built on Elston Avenue.

Yep. I remember the Round Robin. I used to buy newspapers there for my father. The Valet was named Van.

I loved going to Kee's and riding the escalator down to the record department. That is where I used to get the record charts. You can see copies of them at oldiesloon.com for both WCFL & WLS.

My father boarded horses at Happy Day. One in "B" barn and two in "C" barn. "A" barn was for the rental horses. For some reason he pulled out of Happy Day and moved to Coach House(?) Stable which was just down the street.

There was, maybe still is, a bakery on Montrose just East of Horner Park that My parents used to go to. I think it wa named Lutz.
