Anyone remember the Carousel in the Sky restaurant atop the old Morrison Hotel? It was a classy place that revolved; hence the "carousel" name. Also had strolling violinists. I took a date here when I was eighteen years old, just before I left for a three year hitch in the US Army. She was so impressed she waited two whole years before she sent me a Dear John letter.

The tavern on the southwest corner of 50th and Wolcott was called Ruzicka's. The Mundane's S.A.C. used to hold their meetings in the back room there. That back room was also rented out for wedding showers, etc., back in the 40's, 50's and early 60's.

The ice cream parlor on the northwest corner of 51st and Damen was called Manuso's. Above it on the second floor was a dentist, Dr. Osinkis. Across the hall from the dentist's office was the Jay-Bee bowling alley, where my older brother worked as a pinsetter. Next to the dentist's office was the office of an attorney, Jim Smejkal.
