They sold it in cans during the 1960s. I remember it well. It was really green!

Oh I remember Rocky's well! They used to sell breaded shrimp there. It was the old low-key Navy Pier experience..we'd stop there after walking the pier and watching the ships. I seem to recall Rocky had his own wooden chair out front.

That exhibit should be interesting. The North Lincoln postwar German community was familiar to me as my parents used to go up there quite a bit. One of the favorites was a magazine stand or store that sold books, crystal, and china as well as German magazines. Nordens was it? This was the era when the Davis had German-language B-films (without subtitles).

I don't know about access, but I do know that it was the original Hanson Park Elementary School.Unfortunatly I don't know when it was built. The open space around it used to be a "park", but it was orginally allotment gardens for the surrounding neighborhoods, nicknamed the cabbage patch. This is why it isn't properly landscaped like most other Chicago parks.
