I went there in the 1970s, after hearing Richard Crowe on Eddie Schwartz radio show discussing it. I remember seeing a lot of vandalism. From there we went to Resurrection Cemetary. What is Richard Crowe up to these days?

Thanks Fleurblue for the article. Can't picture that area as farmland. My first recollection of the mall is attending an antique auto show, in 1961. When I had appointments inside the unique cylindrical office tower, walking throughout the mall was something to look forward to.

It's for garbage. We had a much larger one than shown in the picture, for 7 apartments. I lived in the Hermosa neighborhood. In the early 1970s the garbage men complained & our precent captain told the landlord it had to be replaced with metal cans.

I certainly remember Injun Summer at Olson Waterfall, a beautiful time of the year! Thanks very much for the cartoon site. It's one of my favorites. The Chicago Tribune used to publish it every year, then stopped when it wasn't "politically correct."

Amblings on North Avenue (Melrose Park?). In the 1960s, I'd go with my girlscout troop. I remember a dark corner with a ghost sitting & then jumping up scaring us. I still remember the fun.

After going to the waterfall, my parents would take me to the Diversey side of Olson to see the ducks. We were allowed to feed them. Do you remember the free post card you'd receive at Olson Waterfall?

I remember those empty containers & many times not understanding the conductors as they announced the stations. I learned at a young age to read the station signs.

When detectives were investigating Silas for the Brach case, they reopened the 1950s Peterson Boys Murder. Was it confirmed he killed the 3 boys at the stable? The bodies were found in the forest preserve, on Lawrence, West of Cumberland.

There was a Goldblatts on Diversey & Milwaukee, with a lunchmeat counter. Is it the same building? I remember huge side-opening windows Goldblatts would open in the summer. The store would be terribly warm inside. The Goldblatts near Belmont & Central was cleaner.

The theater was great. I saw Mitzie Gayner at the Mill Run. In 1961 we went to an antique auto show in the parking lot. I have a picture of the water mill (Milwaukee Ave. side). Is it still there? In the 1990s, the indoor water fountain closed. It used to be a good place to sit & relax a few minutes. It began changing & there were many vacant stores, before I moved away.

I now recall our friend would say on cold winter mornings the height of this structure was high & when he came home in the evening it was much lower. It's making sense to me it was the gas used that day to heat homes.

In the 1960s, while visiting friends on Kilbourn Avenue, we'd see from their front porch a large structure the gas company owned. It would move depending on how much heating gas was used. What was it & how did it work?

In the 1960s it was called "the highway with no beginning & no end." It was unique & we would have great discussions w/anyone not familiar with it. In the 1970s, on the West of it, Hall Printing Company used an old factory for paperback books. Would someone please advise how to use the aerial sight to look at that road.
