Thanks - while cleaning out a drawer at home, I found a brown envelope about 5 inches by 3 inches with Cinch printed on it and it looks like it was used to put small screws etc init. My Aunt once went to work with slacks on and she was fired because women were supposed to wear dresses etc. She did get her job back.

On 25th and Washtenaw there was a small combo hardware store snack food items and across was a corner grocery store - can't remember the name. It wwas right next door to where we lived in a 6 flat apartment building.

It was on the corner of 25th Street and Washtenaw, if I remember it correctly. I am living in Michigan for the last 30 years but have recently started to research the old neighborhood. It was similar to a hardware store but also had a small candy counter and I remember my parents buying Canada Dry ginger ale and potato chips.

Anyone remmember Scott's five & ten on 22nd street and California? We used to walk up and down the aisle and look on the tables. I remember there used to be chickens on ice in the windows.

I remember a general store called Patek's on the corner of 25th & Washtenaw and wondered how long they stayed in business or whatever happened to them. I also remember a department store Zempsky's on California and 22nd. Thanks
