Next door in the same building was Ed's Pizza which I thought was the best in the world in the 1950's and into the 60's -- Medium Sausage for $1.90

Clearing was annexed to Chicago in 1915 and the Townhall became the American Legion Post with a few offices for many years complete with a 105mm howitzer in the east garden. To the west is the unusual former Standard Oil gas station with opposing bays and half round office. Bedford Park and Chicago Police used to hang out here in the 1950's.

Untitled 12 is 6420 South Lockwood in Chrysler Village. North end of a four townhouse building. The little girl would be Peggy Riley who grew up to be a fox. The houses on the west side of this street were built without bath tubs (showers only) while the houses across the street had tubs. Note the wooden downspouts, they lasted for many years. We are talking about natural gas storage tanks with floating tops. The sides would roll up and down as the volume of gas changed and the top created the pressure to move the gas. The orange and white checked paint jobs came later, as they were very plain black sort of blah paint jobs in the 40's and 50's. There were guide wheels on the inside of the upright girders to keep the sides straight as
