Does anyone remember a cookie factory/bakery that was located on the west side of the 6200 block of North Western Ave. during the 1950s? My grandmother lived across the alley on Artesian and I can remember the aroma of cookies baking when I played in her yard. I've been trying to recall if this factory was associated with one of the major Chicago cookie companies. The whole block was taken over by Z Frank around 1958.
Re: Cookie factory - 6200 N. Western block in 1950s
I'm from the southside and we had the Nabisco Company by Marquette Park. We would going fishing at the park around 6am and eat our lunch by 8am just because of the cookie smell. Those were the good old days in the 50's

I am wondering if this might be the original site of Maurice Lenell. I know they were somewhere on the north side before moving out to Norridge, but I think they moved to Norridge somewhere around 1939, not in the 1950's.

Finally got the chance to ask a friend who's lived in that area (same house) since 1932. He remembers the cookie factory, and is pretty sure it was Maurice Lenell.
