I remember when I was young it could of been a Woolworth or Kresge store in the Loop where the cafeteria was on the 2nd floor overlooking the store. Does anyone remember this establishment?

The Woolworth store at Washington & State had a lunch counter on the mezzanine. A stairway on the south wall of the store led from the State Street door up to the counter.

Thank you for the answer and it was a faint memory of mine having lunch up top with my mother. I also remember stores like Woolworth's having a rectangle candy counter with 2 women working. You would chose what candy you want and the amount. Then they would weigh the candy and bag it for you.

I remember that Woolworth's. As I recall, by the late '70s/early '80s, the lunch counter was gone, but they still had the mezzanine, although now it was filled with shelves of merchandise.
