From the late 40's to about 1955 my mother worked at Art's Fishery. Owned by Art Jeschke (spelling?) the little store at 3145 West Addison was well-known for the best in fresh and smoked fish and fried shrimp. Does anyone remember Art's and maybe have photos to post?

How about Hagens Fish on Montrose west of Central? Great fish sandwiches for $1.50.

I don't know about Art's Fishery, but there was an Al's Fishery on 95th Street just East of the bridge that made the best fried Shrimp and fish chips that I have ever had. It was a tiny place maybe 4 small tables but it was so good that I would drive from the far north-side just to enjoy what they did so well.
