doctor jazz on montrose was a neighborhood jem. I believe it opened in 1972 or73. it sprouted from a piano tuners store and became one of the most unique ice cream stores ever.On a sunday afternoon you would have to wait for a table as long as 2 hours because a live dixieland jazz band played. there were old carnival games and toys displayed. I remember seeing The Great Race played there one day. And of course the Nickelodeon always played.Times changed and so did ownership and slowly it fell out of flavor as the Zephyr on Wilson ave. started to be the place to be. I will always have fond memories of Doctor Jazz.
