Many thanks to Greg Borzo for presenting at our recent Forgotten Chicago Haymarket event on January 15; we had a large crowd enjoying his presentation. Yesterday, on January 24, Greg also presented to hundreds of people at the Harold Washington Library Center, along with FC Editor and Co-Founder Jacob Kaplan and Gary Johnson, President of the Chicago History Museum, in a lively discussion of Chicago's once-forgotten cable car network.

Greg's book is a great read. Amazing part of Chicago's transit history. He gave a wonderful presentation last night along with the others mentioned above.

He passed around a sample piece of cable. Center core of hemp encircled with 6 stranded steel cables about 1" in diameter. There were miles and tons of this moving under our streets for about 25 years. Electric powered trolley cars ended the cable car era.
