While recently going through my father's things, I found a bottle opener from the Atlas Brewing Co. for "Atlas Prager"

What brand or brands were brewed at Siebens? Besides Siebens of course.

What I remember about Hamm's was their TV commercials featuring the Hamm's bear, the best animated tavern signs, usually behind the bar, that made it look like the water was flowing and their jingle..."From the land of sky-blue water...comes the beer refreshing...Hamm's the beer refreshing....Hamm's."

I vaguely remember a beer called Brau Meister. I thought that it was funny because we had a brand called Meister Brau. Anyone out there that can tell me that I am not imagining this?

When Peter Hand brewing went out of business, the Meister brau name was sold to one company,Miller, and the brewery to another, Huber.
Huber made Brau Meister.

How about Gettleman's? Was that a Chicago beer? I remember the big sign on the brick wall of a tavern which read " Get, Get , Gettleman's "

Stagg Beer, they had a blimp that use to fly over our house.

There was a beer that they use to sell at the High-Low on 71st for a dime a can. they displayed it in a basket and the label was white. My Dad was Meister Brau drinker as far back as I can remember. He use to go to a bar called Seigel's on Stony Island and always brought me a Kayo and a Hershey bar home.

Yes technically Blatz was brewed in Milwaukee. But when Chicago was selling a lot of Blatz Beer, Valentine Blatz opened a brewery in Chicago at North Wolcott and Chicago Ave. It is now a open lot. Valentine Blatz had residential housing for employees who worked there. The residence is at 835 N. Wolcott, Chicago Illinois. On the side of the building reads "Valentine Blatz". Speaking of past Chicago Beers, Prima Beer is another one and ghost signs of Prima can be seen in places around Chicago.

Hi, Tom

Wow! I came across your post from a couple of years ago under OLD BEER BRANDS with an ad showing the Atlas Brewery - in Czech, no less! Do you have any idea about the year that was done?

I've been researching my family history focusing on my great-grandfather John Kralovec, who was one of the founders of Atlas (nee Bohemian Brewing).

Unfortunately, I've come up short on any kind of paper memorabilia pre-prohibition; I'm looking for someone who would be willing to scan and share with me, for my personal collection. Do you have anything else relating to the brewery pre-prohibition?

Wow again. Looking forward to hearing back from you. Thanks for any help!

P.S. I tried to send you a PM with my email, but for some reason it was rejected!

Nectar Beer sold at Town Club Tavern on 50th & Oakley in the 50's. I still have a beer can made by American Can Co.
