Hollingsheads body shop was on 58th and Clarmont about a block behind Mel Wolfs Gage Chrysler Plymouth. We would ride our bikes down Western,to Gage Park pool. Every shop had its own noises and smells.
wounder if Murphy Motors is still there, time has caught up to all the locale dealerships. The dealers serviced there own neighborhood,so they knew most of there customers, and kept the business in there neighborhood. I started as a apprentice in 1978, Chrysler dealership, right before their bankruptcy. The owner took over from his father. that dealership is long gone, there grandsons ,and great grandsons have stores now,in several states.I worked for one of the grandsons, never saw him, just some numbers guy with a computer.Oh, well it was nice for a long time. I got hooked when my older cousin worked for Mr. Norm, Grand Spaulding Dodge.
Western Ave on the Southside had many used and new car dealerships. Sometimes the gas stations had lisense and a lot to sell cars.

The Nickey Chev picture, any idea what year that was? I'm looking for pictures of Nickey Chevrolet and anything that would list employees that worked there 1958-1966.
