My memory of the buildings of the Edgewater Beach Hotel is vague, if I ever saw them, since it was closed in 1967; but my mother had fond memories of the hotel when she was very young, and I wish that I could have seen the inside and outside, in detail.
As did "rjmachon," we walked past the hotel on our way to Foster Beach and the apartments on our way to Ardmore Beach. From a kids's perspective whatever was inside the hotel seemed like a different world. We had no clue what/who may have been inside.
BTW, directly across was a dinner house and a steak house. I believe the former was "Frank and Marie's" and the latter was "Joe Stein's Steakhouse." Just as with the Hotel, it seemed as these establishments were meant for e segment of society unfamiliar to us.
I lived at 5125 N Clark St and a short walk got me to The Edgewater Beach Hotel
in the 40's & 50's In the evening our "group" climbed over the fence and partook of the pool on many occasions..Had one visit to the Apts for a Holloween party dressed as a painter..Lotsa fun back then
To see views of the Edgewater Beach Hotel, go to eBay and search "chicago postcard edgewater beach". There are tons of these postcards around and a lot will come up. BTW this is a good way to see images of anything that was on a postcard.
