Jozwiak Park in Niles ?

I am trying to do some follow up work on a family history project and would like to see if any of you know what happened to Jozwiak Park in Niles? It was named after my grandfather, Joe Jozwiak. He was instrumental in the Nile Playground Association and helped to start Niles Days in the 1940s.

I remember that the park was dedicated in the early 60's and that it was on Touhy Avenue. But I cannot find any information on whether it is still around.

The Park was located at 6851 Touhy. According to this link http://www.villageprofile.com/illinois/niles/07rec/main.html it was replaced by Pioneer Park at the corner of Touhy and Harlem. The site where the park was,is now the home of the new Public Services Facility.

Here is another link from a Niles newspaper about the final approval of the land swap of the park despite the protest of the community. no matter the size of the town, the politicans ("public servants ?")always get what they want.

Thanks for the response. I asked the Township and the Niles Historical Society and have not received any input from them.

Ah, yes, Mayor jailbird and his cronies always got what they wanted.
