I remember when we would come to downtown Chicago we would eat at the 17 restaurant. The olive burger was always a favorite and as always numerous Chicago Police Officers would dine there. IT had booths and was always busy but I cannot remember the street it was on but it was near the loop I remember that. If anyone has any information on this 17 restaurant I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Dan Scherschel

It was at 17 W. Randolph. Apparently closed in 1982.

I used to work at 54 West Randolph in the old Woods Theater Building. Started there in 1967 and used to eat at 17 and at the fast food part of Ronny's across the street. I also recall that 17 was next door to the Treasure Chest.

The Warren Beatty movie "Mickey One" has scenes filmed in a restaurant across the street from the Woods Theatre. "The Cardinal" was playing at the time.

Was Flo's the same place as the Kit Kat Club? If so, there's a short film about the Twist from 1962 which was filmed there, called 'Dance Craze'. It's on YouTube.

As a pre-teen in the late-50s and early 60s, and then when I entered high school in the 60s, I would often eat at the 17 on a weekend night or weeknight in the summer. I'd visit the Central Library, or go to a movie Downtown, and then stop at the 17 for an Olive Burger and a piece of apple pie with ice cream. I have fond memories of that restaurant and the great waitresses who worked there.
