There was a restaurant in Palos Park across the street on SW Highway and Rte 83 from the old Pooch's that burned down around 1969 or so. Now, there is a tough one for someone old enough to perhaps remember.

We use to go to Coney Island Restaurant on 46th s Ashland for many years. My Aunt was a waitress there and so was my wife. My Aunt was also a waitress at Julia's on 47th s Western. They had great food.

Green Light on 53rd-Pulaski had great ribs in the early 80's. Motor World across the street was good too, I can still picture George the guy owned it taking the bill.

I remember Cameos at 5900 S Western, wasn't it Kliros at one time ? Anyone remember Mr Q's on 50th-Ashland (east side) or the Tic Toc Snak Shop (NE corner of 51st-Ashland) ?

Swanky Franky's on 51st east of Racine was another one. And of course Burgerland at 59th-California.Still remember the Super Submarine Sandwich in Walgreen's diner at 47th-Ashland.

Anyone remember Uncle Mitch's on 61st and Pulaski ? It later became Vi Vi's. Mitch's goes back to the early 50's or late 40's, way before Little Eddies on 59th place and Pulaski.

There were three restaurants at 79th and Columbus.
Jaycees restaurant was on the spot where a Burger King stands. The Diamond Head was on the east side of the southwest highway near 79th street. And across the street from there was "Caputos"

Did Jaycees have more words in the name such as as Jaycees -------?
I seem to remember it having 2 words in the name back in the early 60's or perhaps I am remembering it wrong. Thanks for your help.

Bwalsh-the driftwood was where we took Chris Karamasenes funny car wrench Johnny Nakaza & his wife marilyn for there wedding dinner,branding iron is where I took my wife 38 years ago for our first diner together.

Jaycee's was at 79th and southwest highway, we had funeral lunchoeons there for the relatives, Alywards was further south on 78th. Great memories. Greater food.

I worked across the street at American Can Co and eat most every night at Cameos. I took my my now wife there for our first date in 79 at then it was called the Kliros Oxford House. We also got engaged there. Still going strong after 36yrs.

Leo's Castle was one of our favorite hambuger places growing up in the 50's. Being Catholic we waited up on Friday nights for Dad to get home after midnight and he would bring us food from Leo's. At that time as you know growing up across from Cornell Park Leo's was served out of a trailer and then later he built the sit down restaruant down the block.

Alot of conversation about rib restraunts. How about the Mansard House on 70th ?? and Paluski or the Apron String? Someone mentioned Beggars Pizza, my buddy is a co-owner of two out of the many in the franchise.
Does anyone remember the Old Barn in Burbank? It was a private club back in the hay days. Great food and very high class service.
How about Sir ref 55th and Komensky. Started out as a pancake house in the early 60's then changed to a steak house and lounge in the mid 60's. I worked there all four years of high school. It was the owners name spelled backwards.

Jaycees was actually named Jacy's. The name derived by the brothers that built and operated the restaurant. (Jay and Chuck).
I am the son of Chuck. I was back in Chicago last weekend for a nostalgic visit and really enjoy the memories.
