The online version of the Encyclopedia of Chicago is the first stop for historic maps of Chicago. It is comprised of a sampling of maps from the collections at the Newberry Library and the Chicago History Museum. Our favorite is the 1886 Robinson map.

University of Chicago Library's online map collection specializes in maps relating to the social sciences.

Scott Newman, the creator of Jazz Age Chicago, made a number of historical maps of bright-light districts such as Uptown and Woodlawn. These are a must-see.
