my sister,brother-in-law and i just passed by this spot 2 weeks ago and i was telling them was used to be there. when i was young and driving the dan ryan, saint ann's was one of my markers just like saint martins at 59th (which has lost the horse on the roof). loretta englewood at the curve on 63rd and the ryan was another marker. at one time you could see saint columbanus on 71st also.

i hope so. i live in the neighborhood and have watched the work for some time. maybe i am dreaming but i am hoping it will be like the music box on southport. that really helped to turn things around in lakeview. it would be wonderful to see all the empty street fronts filled with thriving business just like on southport( and southport did not always look like it does now). good eating places and

i think some of this is related to the UIC expansion or as a jaded friend of mine says"more land grab". probably when the housing market was hot developers cast an eye towards this area. i have been around this area a great part of my life and am amazed by what changes there are. sometimes i go down roosevelt road going east and i think i have landed on another planet because it sure i

well there are a few i remember. Curley's on 79th street near saint sabinas and edgar's was also near there. blake/lamb was on 79th and loomis. michael colettas on 79th street. sheehy's on 82nd ashland. many of these were located near irish bars. also on the west side on madison ,west of cicero,south side of madison was toomey's. there was a place called keenan's on cicero near van buren. ke
