The Anton Hotel at 4835 W. 22nd street do any body remember this place? Some of us guys from Hawthorne Works would go there at lunch and watch the Topless girls dance. This was in the 60's & 70's.

I remember the Illinois Research Hospital back in 1963-64 I had a cousin age 33 that got polio in Sept. 1963 they put him in an Iron Lung and he stayed there for over 9 months. He was paralyzed from his shoulders down. He went home that way and lived for 16 years. I think he was the last person in Chicago to get polio.

It was some where south of Chicago I think near kedzie Ave. They would race Stock Cars there every Friday or Saturday in the summer time.

Dunning wasn't that a Mental institution run by Cook County? Many people died there 35,000 plus with no records kept.

Yugoslav Hall they would roast Lamb there about every Sunday. You could go there and just buy the lamb and take it home. It was across from the Fire Station. Great bunch guys.

Do you remember Chicago Fire Stations that the firemen would decorate their buildings for Christmas. One that was really good was at 55th & Narragansett.

Linka's was our hobby Store, also sport equipment, went to Farragut H.S. and bought my gym shorts there. Also bought my Bow and Arrows there. This was in the 50's, Mr. Linka's son ran the store.

Went to Farragut H.S. with Pat Sajak (Wheel of Fortune).Also Kim Novak, Ernie Terrell, Marianne Gaba, Kevin Garnett and Joe Soto went to this school.

Went there in 1970 for the Santana concert. In the 50's & 60's for the Chicago Auto show, Boat shows, Dog Shows, Sport shows. Also went to see the Mexican Rodeo's in the 70's with Tony Aguilar and his family. The Amphitheater was a great place.

Calumet Fisheries, My dad would go there back in the early 50's. He would buy Smoked Chubs, about 3 dozen or more for our family. Also smoked shrimps. Every thing was fresh, they smoked the fish right there. I think the place opened in the 40's.

I remember WVON and Herb Kent "The Cool Gent" he was my favorite DJ back in the 60's. I know he's on V103 FM now.

Jim Moran -- the Courtesy Man. He moved early 60's to Miami Florida and just died about 2007. His company is the South East distributor for Toyota. It's rated one of best company to work for. Look up Jim Moran,the Courtesy Man on the internet.great story about him.

Goldblatt's on 26th street They use to sell Christmas trees in the back of the store. 3rd floor was Santa.
