i believe it's the only stretch of the city that extends north of Howard along Juneway Street and Jonquil Terrace. The neighborhood is kind of cut off due to the lake on one side and Howard Yard on the other. <iframe width="425" height="350" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" src="http://maps.googl

Hello all! We finally figured out what was going on that was causing that Google malware warning popup on our forum. Our adserver, OpenX, had it's ad serving javascript hijacked, which directed traffic to that bad site, which might've caused some of your virus/malware detectors to go off. We have contacted OpenX and patched the security issue. Based on our testing, we are no longer getting o

Has anyone heard of, or remember any instance of, the term 'Snus Boulevard" used to designate a portion of Chicago Ave that was home to many Swedes? Snus is a type of smokeless tobacco that is still very popular in Scandinavia today. Where on Chicago Ave were the Swedish communities located? Thanks!

It definitely was not. Our db suffered a catastrophic error and we lost a bunch of threads, especially long ones. We are continuously trying to put them back online but we apologize for any loss of content. Thanks for being an avid contributor. Mike Damian Forgotten Chicago

Lorrainium, I have no idea, but from the Google Streetview of it, one can see an old woman standing on a door stoop... it looks like some of the cruelest housing in the city, no windows and the ceiling is as high as the doorframe? These cant be residences, take a streetview drive around. Any ideas? Mike, ForgottenChicago.com Webcrew

Erija, Im sure you've seen Encyclopedia of Chicago's page on it, (http://www.encyclopedia.chicagohistory.org/pages/425.html) Its rare but it does happen. Off the top of my head, the 1100 block of west Bryn Mawr in Edgewater, on the northwest corner of Winthrop and Bryn Mawr west to the alley/red line. That whole stretch has been abandoned for at least 5 years and tattooed with bright orange
