I got a kick out of the neon feature, but was saddened to see that the newest casualty to "good taste" - the Standee's marquee on Granville wasn't featured! Apparently it was sold to someone for $500 since their new landlord (they are moving) didn't want it on the facade...

Yes, Kennedy King College is along W. 63rd Street. It used to span the street at Wentworth - I'm not a fan of the anti-street suburban looking brick pile. I remember when E. 63rd was much livelier (even in the 80's) than now. The city could never get it together there - they tried to redevelop several buildings into lofts, but could never make it work, much like the senior development in the S

Wasn't Baskin on State Street too? Not really on State, but Wabash was Capper & Capper, which closed around the mid-90s, a very posh store which closed just as I would have been able to shop there.

Definitely not Hyde Park nor is it FMNH - there is (and never has been) any kind of observation deck, and the buildings on Michigan Avenue aren't that close - it looks like Lower Manhattan to me. Staten Island Ferry maybe? The only place it could have been was the old ped bridge over Southbound LSD but that was much lower than this vantage point. The street photos look like they were taken by

The School of Public Health moved here around 2000, finally being able to be located in one building - previously they had been in two buildings further down Taylor - 2035 and 2121 (I think). 2035 - the "east building" had been the residence for the teaching nun's of the long gone high school. It has fabulous frosted formica kitchens and salmon pink bathrooms. There is a building on Roos

What was the restaurant on Wabash that seemed to be under the lightwell of the building it was in (maybe just south of Carson's, on the east side of the street) which had brady bunch wall/partridge family bus stained glass wall panels? My parents used to take me there when I was a kid when we'd come downtown for business.

That sounds like 3550 LSD. With a funky white sculptural mural?

Is it right north of Touhy? There's a cool "tiki" house on Talcott Rd., just (well, due) west of what looks to be a round house on Dee Road.

Didn't realize that Albion got so insignificant there.

The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore HQ is in a former Nike Base and until the mid 80s still had the towers and silos intact. I've heard that the hill at Montrose was a base too. Hyde Park rumor/pre-teen urban legend says that the point is hollow and a huge fallout shelter.

Yes, they are indeed subsidized elderly housing; they are built on an atrium concept. All the windows face a semi-private patio for quiet, since 55th street is very noisy,as well as to face the sun. I believe that they won an award from the AIA or at least got an honorable mention somewhere. I think I have this reference somewhere. In fact, I think I have the plan of one in a book, but maybe not.
