It's been gone at least since 1980, when they built the Fullerton Court apts. Was at the SE corner of Fullerton and Ashland.

Goldblatt's had the best ginger snaps in the world. They were actually spicy with ginger. I still miss them. When I was a kid, my mother (a mopar fanatic til the day she died) would take our Dodge Coronet station wagon to the dealership at Grand and Harlem for servicing. We would tag along and make a day of it. Usually we would catch the Grand and Nordica bus and go downtown. Navy Pier (when

I am not sure how much we can do without becoming super restrictive or having big brother approve each message. The purpose of the things is to plaster their link in as many places as possible to move that site higher in the search engine rankings. I can't imagine there could possibly enough money in this to pay for manual entry, but apparantly they get past the antispam signup code. Mayb

How long ago are you talking about? Early on in Circle line planning, using Western was one of the options. As far as I can tell, even back then, the fix was in to use Ashland. It still continues with the BRT plans. Up here in my section, we argued hard that a route from the Armitage station, past Clybourn station and down Western was a more effective option, The only shortcoming would be t

It's more than buzz, the factory was pretty much gone when I drove by it Thurts morning. It was a handsome art deco building designed by Harold Zook (Pickwick Theater, Park Ridge) around 1935. It was rated "Orange" in the historical resources survey. Although it was not made a city landmark, this should have instituted a 90 day delay on demolition permits The real buzz is that i

There was a wooded area extending east from the firehouse down Roscoe. It could've been a picnic grove. It was there up til the eighties, now it is a truck parking lot.

The building is still there, but I can't tell you much about the school except what I have gleaned from the internet. S.A. Hoffman was a lawyer. He started the school in 09,by one account it was for legal, pre-dental and pre-medical training, although one of his ads mention trade schools. It appears to be for the most part a night school type of operation. He ran the school til 1928 or '29

It took some digging, but it was the Van Schaack Bros Chemical plant at 3430 W Henderson. A good synopsis is here: Fire Service Institute It's the record of the death of one of the firemen.
