Winter Camp at Fort Dearborn was fun, pot belly stove going all the time and bonfires outside. You smelled for a week after coming home. LOL

My next car after I sold my 73 Mark IV and my 64 Camero was a 1978 Blue on Blue 2dr.Ford T Bird. Fully loaded with a Cb Radio lots of fun to have back then in the 70's. I was still single back then, however, found my Sweetheart fell in love and got married in 79. 36 years later she's still my sweetheart and still very, very much in love, however, stay tuned to my next car saga and my next car.

There has to be more stories about your favorite games. Around Oakley Playground in the 50's we liked to wrestle each other under the flag pole in front of the park. Mostly against our older brothers or anyone that challenged to a match. I guess we all thought we were "Killer Kowalski" or "Vern Ganja"

It's sad to see what happen to the yards that made Chicago great in the hay days. it was a booming place in the 50's. My grandmother worked for Armour as a pork trimmer. If you looked close you could see the wire mesh gloves the trimmers wore so they wouldn't lose a finger. I still have my grandmother's gloves and knives. Thanks for the video. On Friday mornings my Dad would cash his check at Drovers Bank on Ashland and afterwards we would go over to the slaughter house and watch them rustle the cattle off the trucks. Living in the yards the smell was something you got use to on most days, hot summers were touchey..............

I still have most of my merit badges, rank pins, hat, scarf, hand book and patches. I always wanted to be in the "Order of Arrow" mostly the older scouts got that honor. I still have my hand drawn map of Fort Dearborn. When I quit the scouts I gave all my uniforms and camping equipment to my cousin.

LOL that could of been us on that bus, however, by that year we were already driving our cars. It was called Rainbow Beach, best beach around. 51st Street beach had too many rocks and Oak Street was too hard to get to, besides it was a high class beach for the condo apartments across the street. Warren Beach and the Indiana dunes were our favorite spots when we drove. More desereted areas.......

Most the pools by us where all in walking distance or we would take our bikes. We also went to 74th Street Beach couple times a week. That was an all dayer. Get there around 8am and stay until 5pm as long as we were home by six to eat dinner with Mom.

This wasn't a game, however, does anyone remember when ball point pens came out in the 50's and it became a fad at school and of course you couldn't resist clicking them during class and the nuns at St Michaels would allow us to bring them to the classroom. I think it interfered with their "CLICKERS" LOL
