Still looking for former residents of the Thatcher Homes Veterans Village that was at Montrose & Cumberland in the late 40s/early 50s. Anyone know someone who lived there? Consisted of Quonset Huts and Barracks bldgs. made of corrugated metal. Most of us 'kids' are in our late 60s so we need to work fast. LOL. It's turned into a historical group. Many never knew ever existed

Greg, a few more names you might check Morton & Zena Striker/Stryker/Striecher Birchman, Sladek, Reschke/Reshke, Elliott, Shackelton All lived in the NW corner of the complex. So it would be an address on Pontiac, Plainfield (4300s), Pensacola or Cullom (7800s) Thanks!

Hey Mary..you mentioned playing near the Quonsets. Were you there visiting friends? If so, what might their names be? Trying to locate former residents. Was it on the east or west end? Ft. Dearborn was great because it was so close....went to White Pines only once but loved it. Kiwanis, Harrison were mainstays too. @Holtanek...we are also looking for folks who lived at the time in the Georgian homes just south of us...We called them the 'brick homes'. LOL.They were on the 'P' streets from Irving Park to Berteau where our complex began. Have several aboared from Pioneer, Pittsburgh, Plainfield & Pontiac Aves.
