Lead paint is still allowed for exterior uses under certain restricted circumstances, such as metal windows, iirc. Can't remember the actual verbage/wording of the statutes, but it's very rare nonetheless.

The tracks were exposed on Lake Park heading south from 56th Street this morning for ADA curb & crossing work. Quite a lot of scrap metal that the city could be selling to help pay for the pension short fall they didn't pay when they should have (oh, did I just say that?).

One thing to keep in mind when doing research is that the Department of Buildings microfilm records were destroyed in a fire in like '59 (could have been a bit earlier or later) so many records are gone or incomplete. The Art Institute also has a lot of useful and interesting documentation, though sometimes only accessible by visiting the library itself.
