I also remember one on the northwest corner of State and Jackson in the late 80s. I went to college at DePaul and used to pass the newsstand every day. Got to buy the St. Louis and San Francisco papers which I thought was very cool.

Does anyone remember when Jewel gave away color pictures of the Sox and Cubs? We shopped at the Jewel's on 45th and Kedzie and I remember collecting these pictures in the early and mid-70s.

In Brighton Park, there was Wiertelak's Rexall on Archer and Spaulding. I remember buying baseball cards there. My aunt also worked at Nudd-Para which was on 51st and Damen on the northeast corner. Our family doctor was located in the medical building next door. There also was Dybas' drug store on 49th and Archer across the street from Curie High School and Curie Park.

Yep. The Jakter was on the southeast corner of 47th and Kedzie. There's a Dunkin' Donuts and a small strip mall there now. I grew up four blocks from there. Before it was torn down, the Jakter had a reputation of having some "professional" escorts working there. As for 43rd and Mozart, the name of the restaurant was Hejno's (sp?).
