My Husband and I went on our first date at the Belpark on N Cicero, in 1956. We saw a double feature: "High Society" & "The Mountain". I lived at Addison & Long Avenue, we had to take the Addison Bus, as I was not allowed to enter a guy's car. We celebrated our 51st anniversary last September.

I grew up in the area of Belmont and Central. In the 40's and 50's; there was Kopec's on Roscoe about 5200 West, just down the street from St. Ladislaus Church. I remember going to wakes in homes in the 40's in this neighborhood, several uncles and my grandfather in his home at 5000 Cornelia. The Undertaker would come in and prepare the dead right in the home. No shielding of the children from

Does anyone remember the "Sponge Candy" sold at Goldblatts? It was sold in a block about 4 x6 inches. It was broen or cut up into chunks. Tasted like crunchy maple with a tangy sweet taste.
