Yep, used to go to The Stadium in Sunday nights to see the Hawks play. This was in the late 50's, second balcony seats were $2.00 each.

Yep, they are called "Relay boxes". The letter carrier would sort the mail for their route, and place it in canvas sacks. Another carrier would deliver these sacks. The letter carrier would work from one relay box to another, delivering mail as they went.

Yep. I raced at the indoor drags in the Amphitheater. in December '62 and Jan '63. Had a '63 Pontiac :). Turnout was great. In addition to like racing on ice, the ventilation was poor. The carbon monoxide fumes were nasty. The upside was a chance to drag race :).

There was also a Gertie's on 55th Street, between Fairfield and California, next door to the old Acadia movie theater. In Morris IL, there is a Lindy/Gerties, with old pictures from the 20's, and the owner told me the clock is from their 55th street location.

In addition to all the things previously mentioned, YES, there were indoor drag races there. Believe it was twice, was in 1963, and Yes, I raced there. Was like racing on ice, and the ventilation was poor, lots of carbon monoxide. But what the heck, it was winter, and some drag racing was better than none.Believe that was the only year for that. A fun experience for sure!
