I remember that during the 70s a short order restaurant existed at the NW corner of Lincoln and Irving in a portion of the current Wash Mutual site. Can anyone out there confirm this recollection?

The burning of leaves along the curb was commonplace in Rogers Pk during the 50s. The aroma was everywhere. In terms of garbage incineration, I believe we had a small concrete unit behind our bungalow along the alley. It was never used and was demolished in the 60s. The school janitors probably burned plastic and whatever refuse was at hand. The entire population was blissfully ignorant of the d

I have many memories about the park, but to be brief, the towering parachute ride visible for blocks before reaching Belmont and Western has to be my most lasting impression.

The waterfall was a landmark on the northwest side and it was well known throughout the city. Following their purchase of the property, Field's removed the falls in the late 70s to create a parking lot.

Don Mc Neal's Breakfast Club was a listening staple in morning radio. I think that it was broadcast on WLS in Chicago, but was nationally syndicated. I recall hearing the program on the Armed Forces Network while overseas during the 60s.

Within a north side history book by Samors is displayed a photo of a long defunct Northwestern North line station (High Ridge) located at Granville and Ridge. Does anybody have info as to when that station was closed?

The army set up a radar facility during the 50s along the lake in Rogers Park between Morse and Pratt Aves. It could not have been classifed activity as I recall the public tours quite well. It was cool stuff for a 10 year old. In addtion, there were Nike missiles in what is now a city park in Vernon Hills.
