it's obvious they don't give a crap about this website. Rich S. & Swede and the rest of the regulars are tired with this Bull of these stupid posts. Clean it up within a day,every day and they would go elsewhere. It's that simple. I've seen it on other sites...so it will work. Don't reply to these posts, don't even read them!

Radiofest is only at this time of year. The June meet is a combo of ham radio and antique radio. June meet is only one day...Fathers Day.

The swap meet has changed from previous years. It was Saturday and Sunday this year. Nothing was there until Friday evening starting with registration and then an auction. The Dupage county fairgrounds is in June every year. Here is the website for the club. http://antique-radios.org/

A good friend of mine was with the Police dept. and was on the Pope's security team. He spent his whole visit with him. He has many photo's of the Pope.

F & S is it! I remember it. We lived at 5542 S.Wolcott. It was a brick two flat. I wish we were still there. Moved out in 1973.

Jak378..I knew it was either 55 or 56th & Ashland. I don't remember the A&P.I remember the Burger King on 55th just east of Ashland. What school did you go to and the years? I went to St.Basil until 1973.

Rich, I remember going to the dentist at 51st & Damen upstairs on the second floor.(northwest corner)There was a small bowling alley across the hall from the dentist. The downstairs was a restaurant named Gus's. The dentist's name was Kowal or Kowalski. Was the Tastee-Freeze on 52nd or & Damen there while you lived on Wolcott? There is still a dime store up and running at 6318 S. Pulaski called J & R Variety store. It has the old creaky wooden floors. I stop in a few times a year. Great stuff that brings back memories. My wife loved going to Jim's candy store for the penny candy. I lived at 5542 S. Wolcott until 1973...she lived on 48th & Paulina.

My Father in Law owned it from around 1960 until it closed in the mid 80's. We have the old 1910 Brunswick pool table from there in our basement. The softball team he sponsored was "Al's Pal's".I helped him clean out the place when he sold it to some guy,who used it to store old fridges,stoves...etc.There were two apartments upstairs that shared a bathroom in the hall.

A.A. Bottling Co.made Hydrox soda for Certified Grocers,it was at 5251 S.Millard. They also made Squirt,Dr.Pepper,& Green River in the 60's.Half the building collapsed around 1966? My Father worked there for over 20 years. It closed in 1983

I too learned at St. Basil...just as you described. I went to school there also. Graduated in 1973. Went from K-8 grades. That was great fun every Sunday evening,leaving there all sweated up from the skating. We lived at 5542 S. Wolcott.I remember when someone started the velvet red curtains on fire,I think it was during school hours?
