I am doing extensive genealogical research on family last name[s] of either Colosimo, Burkhardt, or possibly Stroud. In October 1957, an address of 3942 N. Fremont, Chicago, IL, was used. ANY assistance is greatly appreciated!!! PLEASE feel free to contact me email:

Thank you in advance for any assistance rendered!

I attended St. Benedict grade school (3900 N. Leavitt) in the '60s. There was a Burkhardt Funeral Home on the southeast corner of Leavitt and Irving Park, across from the church. And I think that one of my classmates was a (Joseph?) Colosimo.

Thank you for your response. The "Colosimo" I'm researching would be about 26 years old in 1957. Don't know where your address was in connection to the N. Fremont address(?)

Currently, Chicago shows the N. Fremont address as Apts. Do you know "if" this address was Apts. in 1957?

Any further info is GREATLY appreciated!!

fab807, The building design at 3942 freemont looks to be prior 1960s. I'd call the city to see hat info they have. Good luck.

I know the adage of "...better late than never!" is true today! I want to personally thank "zorchvalve," and "Rustymuscle," for the earlier posts and work they did several years ago!!

One last question? I am trying to find a (free) "family tree" (if available) for ole "Big Jim" Colosimo. I'm trying to determine IF "Big Jim" had any relative named "Anthony (Tony) James Colosimo, residing in the Chicago area around 1957. He would be approximately 25-26 yeas old in 1957. A birth certificate of shows he and a "Sharon Elaine Stroud" may have resided on N. Fremont St., Chicago in 1957. ANY information as always, is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!!

Looked in my 1971 directory and no listings for that address. Neither of your names shows up on Fremont between 3500-3958.
I was my understanding that Big Jim had no other relatives in this country outside of his father who lived with him on Vernon Ave. There is however a Colosimo excavating or trucking in the O'Hare area. Also did you check with Oak Woods Cemetery? Although his mausoleum is in poor condition they might have a family contact.I'm
