What's the story on the street names around Golf & Elmhurst rd in Mt. Prospect? I'm referring to some such as: Hi-Lusi av, We-Go Trail, Na Wa Ta av, etc.... Are these Indian names or what?

Some inner suburb subdivisions were built up in the 50s and 60s when Indian names were prevalant. Now, new areas ahve old English or 'nature' named streets.

BTW, it's hard to believe that Mt Prospect is now an inner burb.

I've seen subdivisions where the streets are named after the developers families or worse, by a WWII vet who named the streets after Parisian streets with American spellings. There's also a subdivision outside of Chesterton, In, which has Indian names (along Indian Boundary Road, so very apt of course).

I read an article about this in the Daily Herald archives. I believe the names were made up... something to do with a contest and the Girl Scouts!

Those do sound like boy-girl scout/girl guide names, don't they?
